The investigation into a reported stolen firearm resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old Canandaigua man.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Onofre Nieto was allegedly found to be in possession of the stolen firearm and did not possess a New York State pistol permit or a permit from any other state.
Nieto was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and was released on an appearance ticket for Canandaigua Town Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
