On Friday, a 39-year-old Brutus woman was arrested following a motor vehicle accident investigation that began earlier in the month.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to a crash on February 10 at approximately 2:09 p.m. near the intersection of Oakland Road and Day Road in the Town of Brutus. Investigators determined that Maggie Campbell was traveling southeast on Oakland Road when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. While Campbell was uninjured, the vehicle sustained major damage.
During a mandatory inventory of the vehicle prior to it being towed, deputies allegedly discovered a plastic bag containing a substance that later tested positive for cocaine. Campbell was also allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Following the conclusion of the investigation, Campbell was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. She was processed at the Public Safety Building and released on appearance tickets.
