Penn Yan Police arrested a Branchport man following what authorities describe as a physical altercation at a village residence.

According to investigators, John Kriese allegedly entered the victim’s home without permission and became involved in a physical confrontation. He is accused of shoving, choking, and restraining the victim, preventing them from leaving the residence. Police say the 62-year-old Kriese was charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree aggravated harassment, and second-degree harassment.

Kriese was taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail for arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
