Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that deputies arrested 44-year-old Alvie Johns of Berkshire on Sunday following an incident in the Town of Waterloo.

Johns is charged with assault in the third degree and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, both Class A misdemeanors.

Deputies say Johns intentionally injured a male victim by restraining him in a room and repeatedly striking him in the face. The victim was reportedly dragged by his clothing and prevented from leaving the room. He was taken by ambulance to Geneva General Hospital for evaluation.

Johns was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
