A parole compliance check conducted in the village of Bath resulted in the arrest of a Bath man.

As New York State Parole Officers were on scene at the Budget Inn to conduct a check on Richard Ames, it was discovered that the 58-year-old was allegedly in possession of a felony amount of methamphetamine. Ames was taken into custody and charged with Felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Following his arraignment, Ames was sent to the Steuben County Jail without bail.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
