An Auburn man who failed to appear in court on prior charges is now facing an additional felony after attempting to run from police.
The Auburn Police Department says officers received a tip on September 30 about the whereabouts of Trentyn Jackson, who was wanted on a felony bench warrant tied to earlier charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault.
Officers located Jackson at a home on Hoffman Street, where he was taken into custody without incident. But police say that once at the station, Jackson dropped his body weight as if he was falling before trying to run away. He was quickly restrained and charged with felony escape.
Jackson was transported to the Cayuga County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
