The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Edgar Martinez-Perez, 23, of Auburn, following a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Scipio.

Deputies responded to the area of State Route 34B and Chase Road at approximately 11:48 PM on February 13 for a reported crash involving a blue Chevrolet Tahoe with heavy damage. The investigation determined that Martinez-Perez was operating the vehicle when he allegedly failed to stop for a tow truck that was pulling an unrelated car out of a ditch.

Martinez-Perez was suspected of being intoxicated and performed standardized field sobriety tests. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Public Safety Building, where he provided a breath sample of .06% Blood Alcohol Content.

Martinez-Perez was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, failing to exercise due care to avoid colliding with a hazard vehicle, speed not reasonable and prudent, and possession of alcohol or cannabis in a motor vehicle on a highway. He was released on uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Scipio Town Court on February 23.
