Animal Cruelty, Burglary Arrest in Steuben County

A Steuben County man has been charged with several felonies following an investigation of a reported burglary and animal cruelty.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, James Margeson allegedly possessed stolen property, altered a vehicle identification number, and damaged stolen property. It is also alleged that the 35-year-old failed to provide sustenance for four dogs which were subsequently seized.

Margeson was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, forgery of a vehicle identification number, tampering with physical evidence, criminal mischief, and failure to provide sustenance, all felonies.

After his arraignment, Margeson was released on appearance tickets.
