A 19-year-old from Steuben County is facing charges for allegedly injuring a sheriff’s deputy while she was receiving emergency medical treatment.
Ava Sitzer, of Corning, is also accused of damaging property in the February incident. Sitzer was transported for emergency care at the time and a warrant for her arrest was secured. The injured officer was treated at the hospital and released.
Sitzer was charged with felony assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
