A Chemung County man could face charges in Schuyler County after police say he allegedly stole a car in the village of Watkins Glen.

The vehicle was taken from a location on Third Street at around 1:30 Thursday afternoon. After a BOLO alert was issued by police to surrounding counties, the car was located in Steuben County. The driver, 33-year-old Albert Jones, of Millport, led police on a brief pursuit before crashing the car and taking off on foot. State Police were eventually able to take Jones into custody. Charges are pending at this time.

Anyone in the area of Third Street, between Porter and Perry Streets, is asked to check security cameras if they have them and contact the Watkins Glen Police Department via email to [email protected] if they believe they have relevant footage.

The Watkins Glen Police Department was assisted by Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department and the Schuyler County Communication Center in this matter.
