Virginia Doughty 1925-2026
At the age of 100, "Aunt Granny" stepped across into the arms of her Savior, Jesus. She was born to Harriet (Draper) (Miller) Snover and Lester Miller in Cortland, NY. During WWII she worked for the Aircraft Warning Service. She was posted on top of Virgil Hill as a "Plane Spotter." She retired from Pall-Trinity in Cortland in 1990. She was a founding member of the New Hope Bible Fellowship Church where her macaroni & cheese and caramel corn were legendary.
She is survived by a daughter, Michele Plonski (John) of Long Island, and a son, Brian (Sally) Doughty of Moravia; grandchildren Valerie (Jason), Melanie (John), David (Katie), and Andrea (Ken); 8 great-grandchildren: Madison, Aiden, Kylee, Alayna, Alexander, Charlie, Karoline, & Fiorella; a sister, Marian Reynolds; and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Virgil Doughty, her brother, Don Miller (Lucy), her brother-in-law, Merrill Reynolds, and her nephew-in-law, Dale Weed.
Aunt Ginny cherished her family, her church family, and her neighbors in Sempronius, NY. She found joy in the world of nature outside her door, in listening to WMHR Radio, and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. Her family is so grateful and thankful to all the staff at Guthrie-Cortland Nursing Home for their excellent care of, and patience with our mom.
There are no services scheduled at this time. Spring interment will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Sempronius in the spring at the convenience of the family.
