Richard C. Mitchell
Newark—Richard C. Mitchell, 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Rochester General Hospital. Friends may call on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 2 to 4 PM at Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street in Newark. A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Auburn, NY, on September 5, 1953, the son of the late Robert and Beatrice Reynolds Mitchell Sr. In 1972, he enlisted in the U.S.M.C.; he served his country for four years. He was a long-time employee at the Newark Save-A-Lot. He was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his grandkids doing yardwork. He was a diehard New York Yankees fan and a devoted lifelong Rams fan.
He is survived by his daughter Kristy (Bobby) Buck; grandchildren Quincy Buck, Jordon Mitchell, Savannah Buck, and Jada Buck; two sisters Vicky Lewis and Joyce (Jaymie) Sheffield; four brothers Robert (Debra) Jr., Joseph (Jeanie), Michael, and Thomas (Sabrina) Mitchell; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Joseph Mitchell in 2021; a sister Gloria Mitchell; two brothers Dennis and Steven Mitchell.
