Ralene A. Smith, of Seneca Falls, passed on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025, at Geneva General Hospital, at the age of 84. A graveside service in Springbrook Cemetery in Seneca Falls will be held at a future date and time to be announced. Donations in her memory may be directed to any of the following charities: National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org), American Cancer Society (cancer.org), or American Macular Degeneration Foundation (macular.org).
Ralene was born in Berwick, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Ida (Kisner) Fink. She grew up and spent the first part of her life in Pennsylvania before relocating to Seneca Falls in 1970. On July 21st, 1973, she was united in marriage with John Smith, the couple spending 36 years together before John's passing in 2010.
Ralene worked on the family farm side by side with John until 1997 and then drove bus for Seneca County ARC until 2011, at which point she retired. Ralene enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she cherished the many family porch picnics she had at her home. Definitely possessing a green thumb, Ralene enjoyed being outside working on her flower garden and making it as beautiful as possible. To those that knew Ralene the best, she will be remembered for her quick wittedness and her wise words.
Ralene is survived by her daughter, Regina (Michael) Shore; three grandchildren, Michael J., Magnus, and Fiona Shore; sisters, Joylynn and Jackie Hidley; brothers, Tom (Elsie) and Danny (Carol) Fink; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ralene was predeceased by her son, Charles Smith, and siblings, Bud Fink, Iva Trumbore, and Marge Rough.
