Mary Elizabeth Perkins, age 91, of Virginia Beach, VA, died June 10, 2025, at Virginia Beach General Hospital. Mary was born in Albany, New York, the youngest of five children. She was predeceased in death by her mother, Mable Davenport; stepdad, Claude Davenport; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Perkins. She is survived by her son, Clarence Perkins of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; daughter, Karen (Troy) Jones of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters Virginia Townsend of Montour Falls, New York, and Doris Copas of Faribault, Minnesota; grandchildren, Travis, Shannon, and Alan of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kira (Andrew) Hurst of Manassas, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary had a love for helping others and doing whatever she could to help everyone she met. She lived in many states, and she did a lot of waitress work in her life. When she moved to Virginia Beach, she worked at the Officers Club on the Amphibious Base, Little Creek. After retiring from waitress work, she met her soulmate, Arthur Deese, lovingly called Frank. They were together for 35 years, sharing multiple trips and cruises together.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 1-2 PM at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee Street, Montour Falls, NY. Her funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by burial in Montour Cemetery.
