Harold H. Carr Jr.

Harold H. "Skip" Carr, Jr., 79, of Hector, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 31, 1946, the son of Harold H. Carr, Sr. and Ellen (Peterson) Carr.

Skip enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He found peace and pleasure in a good bike ride, sitting around a campfire, and walking his beloved golden retrievers, Maci and Harper. He enjoyed nature and found solace in hiking in the Finger Lakes National Forest and the Adirondacks. He and his wife, Peggy, visited many of the national parks and got to see and explore their scenic beauty. He was actively involved in AA, embraced and lived by its principles, and mentored many people over the years.

Skip was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Ellen Carr; his sister, Sherrie Wright; brother, Kenny; and his daughter, Michelle. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Thomas-Carr; his son, Neil (Christine) Carr; grandsons, Matthew and Ryan Carr; granddaughter, Erika Pieropan; his daughter, Teri (Hinton) Carr; stepchildren, Bryan (Kim) Kristof and Kalyn and Noah (grandchildren), Mollie (Kurt Soderholm) Kristof and Asa and Naomi Soderholm (grandchildren); brother and sister-in-law, George and Rita Bond, and Mike Wright.

He leaves behind a legacy of simple joys and treasured memories. In honor of Skip's memory, may you find joy in the simple things in life: contentment, life at your own pace, follow your heart, and find happiness in a simple and fulfilling life.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Cemetery, 95 Hector St., Trumansburg, NY.
