Carolyn M. Malec, 74, of Auburn, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, February 11, 2026, at her home with her loving family by her side.
Carolyn was born February 6, 1952, to the late Henry and Estelle (Napiercz) DelFavero. She was a lifelong resident of the Auburn area. Carolyn graduated from Auburn East High School in 1970. Following school, she met the love of her life, John Malec. They later got married and have celebrated over 55 years of marriage. She affectionately referred to him as "Friendy". Family was a very important part of Carolyn's life. Most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. She was extremely proud of each and every one of them. Additionally, her home was another important part of her life where she raised her 3 children and took great care of them. She loved to pay close attention to her several house plants. Carolyn also enjoyed making sugar cookies.
Carolyn served as a professional caregiver to many families and friends. She always showed them compassion, kindness, and love. On top of this all, her faith in the Lord was prevalent. She was a devout Catholic and taught 1st communion class at St. Francis for several years. Carolyn was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church. Carolyn was also a huge New York Yankees fan and would like to go on trips to the local casinos.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband John Malec Sr., their children John (Amy) Malec Jr., Dawn (Daniel) Clark, and Thomas (Marcia) Malec, her grandchildren Sierra (Nick), Jenna (Matt), Matthew, Makenna, and Lauren, her special grand dogs Spike, Cali, Gingie, and Cookie, sibling Thomas DelFavero, and best friends Skip and Joyce Blowers and Sandy Tonzi.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters Esther Green, Connie Hayes, and Marilyn DelFavero.
The family will be holding a private service and burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery as requested. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn's memory to St. Alphonsus food pantry.
