Amy B. Hand, 103, of Moravia, formerly of Genoa, passed away on December 31, 2025, at Auburn Community Hospital. Amy was born on February 18, 1922, in Ledyard, the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Gifford) Winters. A lifelong resident of Southern Cayuga County, Amy was a teacher's aide and bus driver for the Southern Cayuga Central Schools and owned and operated a dairy farm with her late husband. She was a past member of the Genoa Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing and baking and was very proud of her vegetable garden (especially her asparagus bed!). Amy also loved being with family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kyle E. and Ray S. Dyer, III, of Locke; grandsons, Casey Dyer (Melissa) and Kevin Dyer (Katie); great-grandchildren: Jack, Julie, Charlie, and Carter Dyer; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in 2005 by her husband of 56 years, Ernest R. Hand; brothers: William, Frank Jr., and Millard Winters; and sister, Mary Richards.
At Amy's request, there are no public services. Private interment will be in Ridgeway Cemetery, Poplar Ridge. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are graciously recommended to the Genoa Fire Department, P.O. Box 82, Genoa, NY 13073, or to the Resident Activities Fund at Northwoods Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 7 Keeler Ave., Moravia, NY 13118.
