The Keuka College women’s basketball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday but fell to St. John Fisher University 67-49 in Empire 8 action.

The teams traded baskets early, with Keuka (9-14, 4-11 Empire 8) holding a 9-8 lead midway through the first quarter. Senior Mary Cotter sparked the defense with a block in the paint, but the Wolves’ offense cooled as Fisher (12-12, 9-6 Empire 8) went on an 8-0 run to take control. Anderson stopped the run with a driving layup, though Keuka trailed 18-11 after one.

The Cardinals kept the momentum in the second quarter. Anderson and Mullen answered with key baskets, including a three-pointer from Mullen, but back-to-back threes by Fisher pushed the lead to 12 late in the half. Anderson knocked down a three to bring the deficit back to single digits, but the Cardinals closed on a 6-0 run and held Keuka scoreless over the final four minutes to take a commanding lead into halftime.

Mullen opened the third quarter with a jumper, but Fisher responded with consecutive three-pointers and a three-point play to stretch the margin past 20. The Cardinals outscored Keuka 16-7 in the period. Mullen capped the quarter with a buzzer-beating three.

Fisher opened the fourth on a 7-0 run before the Wolves answered with seven straight points of their own. Keuka outscored the Cardinals 18-12 in the final quarter — their highest-scoring period of the game — but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
