Keuka College Women’s Soccer Falls 2-0 at Nazareth

The Keuka College Women’s Soccer team lost 2-0 at Nazareth University on Saturday in their third straight Empire 8 conference matchup.

Despite the defeat, senior goalkeeper Elianna Wilder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) had a standout performance, recording a career-high 15 saves to keep the Wolves (0-5-3, 0-2-1 Empire 8) in the game.

The first half was even, with neither team scoring. Nazareth held a 7-3 edge in shots, while corner kicks were close, 3-2. Keuka’s Delaney Szostak (Marion, N.Y. / Marion) recorded the Wolves’ only shot on goal in the half, stopped by the Nazareth keeper.

Early in the second half, Keuka had chances from Payton Steates (Whitesboro, N.Y. / Whitesboro) and Rosie Wallace (Oswego, N.Y. / Oswego), but Nazareth struck first in the 49th minute and added a second goal in the 75th minute. The Golden Flyers outshot Keuka 20-2 in the second half, while Wilder made 11 saves after halftime.

Notes:

  • Keuka is now 5-13-1 all-time against Nazareth and 3-7 on the road.

  • Wilder’s 15-save game brings her within 20 saves of tying Kenna Kosinski for 10th all-time in program history.
