The Keuka College Women’s Basketball team hosted SUNY Brockport on Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 matchup and the Wolves fell 80-58.
Sydney Brown (Lowville, N.Y. / Lowville Academy) tied in leading Keuka with 12 points, all coming from four three-pointers. Mary Cotter (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) also scored 12 points, including three three-pointers, while adding five assists. Lillian Mullen (Canisteo, N.Y. / Canisteo-Greenwood) chipped in 10 points, with a strong performance in the second half.
Brockport started the game on a 10-0 run before Keuka got on the board with a three-pointer by Lillian Mullen at the 6:36 mark of the first quarter. Katie Deatherage (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman) added a layup to cut into the deficit, but Brockport’s efficient offense gave them a 19-11 lead after the first quarter.
Keuka found their offense late in the second quarter, sparked by a Mary Cotter three-pointer. Afterwards, Sydney Brown hit back-to-back three-pointers after a pair of free throws by Janea Hamilton-Brown (Liverpool N.Y. / Liverpool). Despite Keuka’s late surge, Brockport extended their lead to 48-25 at halftime.
The Wolves came out strong in the third quarter, with Mullen hitting a jumper and a free throw, while Cotter drained another three-pointer to keep the Wolves fighting. Sydney Brown added a three-pointer midway through the quarter, but Brockport maintained a 63-38 advantage heading into the fourth.
The Wolves showed resilience in the final quarter, opening with a three-pointer from Mary Cotter at the 9:52 mark. Sydney Brown hit her fourth three-pointer of the game, assisted by Brooke Burd (Canisteo, N.Y. / Canisteo-Greenwood. Janea Hamilton-Brown made key contributions, hitting two free throws and a jumper in the paint with six seconds left. Despite the late push, Brockport’s offense maintained their advantage to secure the 80-58 victory.

- Keuka College moves to 6-7 in the all-time series with Brockport, this was the first meeting of the two teams since Geneseo joined the Empire 8 Conference.
- Brooke Burd led the team in rebounds, collecting 13 in the contest. She has now surpassed 150 rebounds in her career.
- Burd has collected ten or more rebounds in five of the last six games
- Mary Cotter has made over 100 three-points in her time at Keuka College. This puts her at eighth in the Keuka record books, passing Killian Mahoney (2019-2023)
