DEC Day-Old Pheasant Chick Program Applications Open

Applications have opened for the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Day-Old Pheasant Chick program.

The DEC sets the following conditions for participation in the free program.

1. Release sites must be open to public pheasant hunting and you must get signed permission from the property owner or land manager (for public lands).
2. Release sites must be large enough to hold pheasants (i.e., a small 5 acre field is unlikely to be suitable.
3. The applicant must have suitable pens to raise the chicks until they are released into the wild.
