Auburn Seeking State Funding to Revitalize 2 Vacant Properties

Auburn City Council approved a resolution Thursday to seek grant funding to revitalize two vacant properties within the city.

Council voted to seek 10-million dollars for the former Alco site on Orchard Street and 2-million dollars for the Genesee Street former Chemung Canal Trust Company location.

For the Genesee Street property, developers spoke at council earlier in the month about transforming the building into a mixed use space consisting of shops, apartments, and possibly a roof level green space or dog park. The idea was also floated of turning the ground floor into a museum showcasing local musicians

If approved the funding would be provided by Empire State Development through the Restore NY Initiative.
