Residents of the Watkins Glen school district will vote Tuesday on whether or not the school can purchase a parcel of land in the village it once owned.
Several years ago, the International Motor Racing Research Center purchased a quarter acre of land at the corner of Decatur and 15th Streets from the school for $50,000. With the Center never using the land, it has now offered it back to the school district and the Odessa File reports the asking price is $62,500.
If voters give the district the okay to buy the land, the district will hold a meeting with the public for the best use of the property, which was once a school playground.
Voting takes place on Tuesday from noon until 8 p.m.
