Voters in the Prattsburgh Central School District will have a second chance to decide on the proposed school budget after the initial vote ended in a tie. The budget revote is scheduled is Tuesday, from noon to 8 p.m. in the high school cafetorium.

The revised spending plan includes a 3.67% increase to the tax levy. District officials said the Board of Education opted to use restricted reserves strategically to help offset what could have been a larger tax increase. Overall, the proposed budget represents a 1.42% increase over the current year’s budget. However, it includes a one-time capital expense of $512,000 that must be factored into the total. School administrators noted that without that one-time cost, the budget would reflect a year-over-year decrease.

If the revised budget is again tied or defeated, the district will be required to adopt a contingency budget.
