State Police and the Bath Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team rescued a Livingston County kayaker stranded in the Cohocton River.

A man fishing in the river Tuesday morning called 9-1-1 after a kayak, an oar, and a coffee mug floated past him just off State Route 415 in Avoca. Minutes later, the kayaker, 31-year-old Trevor Conklin, of Avon, called 9-1-1 and said he was on a peninsula in the river. The State Police’s Unmanned Aerial System Unit was able to locate Conklin and the Swift Water Rescue team retrieved Conklin from the water.

Conklin was checked over at the scene by Bath Ambulance and released.
