Stolen Firearms Lead to Ithaca Arrest

An Ithaca man was arrested after police recovered two stolen firearms taken from a vehicle earlier this month.

According to the Ithaca Police Department, officers responded around 6:30 a.m. Feb. 13 to the 400 block of Second Street for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim told police that a rifle and a shotgun had been stolen overnight.

Following an investigation, officers located the firearms inside an apartment at the Asteri Ithaca on East Green Street. Police said the suspect was also found at that location and taken into custody.

35-year-old Jordan Berrios was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a Class E felony.

Berrios was arraigned in Ithaca City Court before Judge Peacock and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
