From June through August, the Steuben County Jail partnered with Catholic Charities to offer an Anger Management Class for incarcerated individuals. A total of 33 inmates participated, and despite some early releases, seven successfully graduated from the program.

The class helped participants examine the role anger plays in their lives and provided practical strategies for managing emotions. Using a combination of cognitive-behavioral tools and mindfulness techniques, the curriculum emphasized emotional regulation, self-awareness, and building healthier relationships — skills critical for personal growth and successful reintegration into the community.

Officials say programs like this have a meaningful impact on participants and contribute to long-term positive outcomes.
