Yates, Schuyler Counties See Bumps in January Sales Tax Numbers

Local sales tax collections increased by 9.2 percent in January statewide compared to the same month in 2022.

In Yates County, sales tax collections for January were $1.3 million, up just over 18 percent from January 2022. Schuyler County saw its sales tax collections for the month go up 10.5 percent from the previous year to approximately $970,000. For the nine counties in the Finger Lakes, $83.5 million in sales tax was collected, an increase of 8.5 percent from 2022.
