Yates County was tied with two other New York counties for having the lowest unemployment rate last month.
Yates, Columbia, and Saratoga counties each recorded a jobless rate of 2.4 percent for May. Ontario County’s unemployment rate for May was 2.6 percent, Seneca County was 2.7 percent, Schuyler County checked in at 3 percent and Steuben County’s jobless rate was 3.4 percent.
The state’s overall unemployment rate decreased from 4 percent in April to 3.9 in May.
