A new 501c3 is launching a community-wide initiative to secure land and raise funds to establish the Yates County Veterans Memorial Park.

After a successful visit from the Wall That Heals last August, the committee that brought the attraction to Penn Yan, Doug Gibbs, Win Harper, Herbie Snyder, and Jody Tyler have regrouped and formed this new organization that is dedicated to honoring and preserving the legacy of Yates County’s veterans by creating a Veterans Memorial Park.

The organization is actively seeking a suitable location within the county for the park and welcomes proposals from landowners, businesses, or community members who may have available property. Anyone with potential land options or interested in supporting the project can reach out to Doug Gibbs at the Veterans Services Agency at 315-536-5196 or email [email protected].

In addition to securing a site, the new organization aims to raise money to fund the park’s designs, memorial installations, landscaping, and visitor amenities.
