The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz is in the Pacific Ocean, protecting the seas, and it has help from a Finger Lakes native.

Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Brianne Maloy, of Dundee, was recently directing sailors during a simulated jet crash on the vessel’s flight deck.

Commissioned in 1975 and named after World War II Pacific fleet commander Chester Nimitz, the ship is the oldest American aircraft carrier in active service.
