The Penn Yan Police Department has named Tyler Brzezinski its “Officer of the Year” for 2023.

Every year, each member of the department voted on who they feel has exceeded the duty requirements of his or her position and has demonstrated a distinct pattern of community service coupled with professional achievement.

A 2017 graduate of Haverling High School, Tyler went on to attend Corning Community College and St. Bonaventure University. In 2021, he attended the Police Academy at Alfred State and was hired by the Penn Yan Police Department.

Chief Thomas Dunham said Tyler has brought a great attitude to the department and an eagerness to learn.

“If there is an open shift to be worked or an additional task that needs to be completed, Tyler is quick to volunteer,” said Chief Dunham. “We are all extremely proud of Tyler’s accomplishments and congratulate him on being selected as the officer of the year.”
