Auburn’s “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” Launches Penn Yan Delivery Hub

Wooden bunkbeds feature sports-themed bedding on top bunks and space-themed bedding on the lower bunk.

The NY-Auburn chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, in partnership with the Penn Yan Agriculture and Future Farmers of America Chapter, officially launched a new delivery hub in Penn Yan earlier this month. The milestone was marked by the delivery of the first bunk bed to a local family in need.

Working closely with the Yates County Department of Social Services, volunteers identified a family in need of a bunk bed for their children. The bed had been assembled just two days earlier during a bed-build event at the school, and the team delivered and installed it within 48 hours.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is dedicated to ensuring that “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town®.” Volunteer delivery teams work year-round to provide safe, comfortable sleeping arrangements for children. They deliver, assemble, and install handcrafted twin beds and bunk beds, complete with new mattresses, bedding, and pillows, directly into the homes of local families.

Children ages 3 to 17 in need of beds, or their case workers, can apply online at shpbeds.org/apply.

This new delivery hub strengthens the organization’s mission to support families in the Penn Yan community and ensure every child has a safe place to sleep.
