VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System held its first Mini-Stand-Down event Friday at the American Legion in Canandaigua, offering needed support and services to over 100 area veterans.

The event brought together local veteran-focused organizations, healthcare providers, and volunteers in a welcoming, community-based setting. Veterans received free military surplus gear, hot lunches, haircuts, and access to dozens of service agencies offering help with housing, benefits, employment, and more.

“This event is about connection,” said Bruce Tucker, Executive Director for VA Finger Lakes. “We want every veteran to know they’re part of a community that cares and stands ready to help.”

Hosted at the Canandaigua American Legion, the Mini-Stand-Down created a one-stop shop for support, reflecting the VA’s commitment to whole health and outreach efforts across the Finger Lakes region.
