More opposition to the proposed expansion of the Seneca Meadows Landfill.

A group that represents the Cayuga, Seneca, Onondaga, Mohawk, Oneida and Tuscarora tribes in upstate New York has joined the opposition to the landfill in Seneca Falls.

The Finger Lakes Times reports the Haudenosaunee or Six Nations Confederacy is urging denial of a permit to expand the landfill upward and remain open until 2040.

In a letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul and state Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos they say “Throughout our history, we have valued our environment with the utmost respect and it is of high priority to us that its well-being is protected.”
