Tourism spending is down in New York State and in the Finger Lakes Region.

Speaking to the Seneca County Board of Supervisors this month, Seneca County Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Shipley says tourism spending in New York is off by as much as 15-percent for the first two quarters of this this year.

In Seneca County, tourism spending, which reduces revenue from the room occupancy tax, is off about 5- percent so far this year. Shipley hopes for a rebound in tourism this summer as they promote the region to people living within a three-hour drive.

Shipley also says they are working to promote the region as a great place to watch next April’s solar eclipse. We have more at Finger Lakes Daily News dot com.
