Three Area Hospitals Hold Presidents Day Flag Ceremonies

Employees and community members gathered Monday at three Finger Lakes Health campuses for special flag-raising ceremonies marking Presidents Day and honoring the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.

The ceremonies were hosted by UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health and held at Geneva General Hospital, Huntington Living Center, and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.

“These new flags invite us to remember the courage, dedication, and teamwork that built our country,” said Jose Acevedo, MD, MBA, president and CEO of UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health. “As the community healthcare system for our region, we see those same values every day, caring for our neighbors, working together, and making a difference in people’s lives.”

The ceremonies included employees and residents with military backgrounds who helped raise the flags at each location.

At Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, participants included Lead Security Officer Christopher Wildrick and Homestead II resident Thomas Warner, both Army veterans. At Geneva General Hospital, Marine Corps veteran Harley Anderson, a mechanic II, took part. At Huntington Living Center, Stephen Rouland of Environmental Services, an Army National Guard member, and Ricky Vonbergen, a Marine Corps veteran, also participated.
