If the Seneca Meadows Landfill is allowed to expand and stay open for another 15-years would mean over $173-Million dollars for the town of Seneca Falls.

According to the Finger Lakes Times, the terms of a new host community agreement are contained in a memorandum of understanding presented at last week’s Town Board meeting.

The payments include: A one-time payment of $1 million upon execution of the host agreement; A one-time payment of $2 million upon SMI’s receipt of all necessary permits needed to construct the valley landfill expansion; and Payments of $4 per ton for all waste received for disposal which would mean at least $10 million annually to the town.

Details of the new host agreement are available on the town’s website.
