Harmful Algal Blooms have already been spotted on multiple Finger Lakes.

Mark Gibson with the Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association says there are several ways to stay informed of HAB sightings on Seneca Lake.

“There’s nearly real time information on our website as well as we’re kind of expanding our text alert system this year,” Gibson said on FLX Morning. “So you can sign up on our website and, when we have a potential HAB, we’ll send out a text and let everybody know we’re starting to see HABs on the lake.”

Gibson adds that they are still in need of volunteers to monitor the lake for HABs, especially toward the southern half of the lake.
