Seneca Falls Town Board Will Not Oppose Landfill Expansion

The Seneca Falls Town Board this week approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Seneca Meadows Landfill.

The agreement calls for the landfill to pay the town over $173 million dollars over the next 15 years in exchange for not opposing the landfill expansion.  The MOU goes into effect only if the State Department of Environmental Conservation approves the landfill’s valley infill expansion. A final decision on that expansion is not expected until later next year.

The vote to approve the agreement was split. Supervisor Mike Ferrara, Frank Sinicropi and Dawn Dyson voted in favor of the agreement, Steve Churchill and Kaitlyn Laskoski.

The MOU is the same document that was tabled at the town’s September meeting.
