Seneca County Supervisors Approve Sales Tax Sharing Formula

Seneca County is another step closer to sharing sales tax revenue with the county’s ten towns and four villages.

Last night, without discussion, the board approved a resolution that defines the parameters and formula for sharing the excess sales tax revenue.

A public hearing on sharing the tax will be held next month when the board meets in Ovid. The towns and villages would have to wait until 2025 to obtain their share of the surplus sales tax, which would be based on the sales tax collected as of September 30th, 2024.
