Public Hearing Set for Canandaigua Indoor Sports Complex

A public hearing will be held Monday on a local man’s proposal to build an indoor sports complex on County Road 22 in Canandaigua.

Evan Gilbert is seeking to rezone his property from AR-1 to Mixed Use overlay after he purchased five acres of land and submitted plans to construct two 14,000-square-foot buildings with synthetic turf. Gilbert tells the Finger Lakes Times the complex would be made available for use by school sports and club teams for practice and games in case of bad weather, in particular for lacrosse, baseball, and soccer.

Monday’s public hearing will take place at the Canandaigua Town Hall at 6 p.m.
