Legislation to dedicate a portion of State Route 21 to a fallen Air Force Sergeant has been signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul.

Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan announced that his legislation (A.6584B) has been officially signed into law. A good portion of Route 21, from its intersection with State Route 96 to Latting Road, passes in front of the Wade family home, and will be the “Highway Dedicated to TSgt Kory Wade”.

Assemblyman Gallahan said, “TSgt Kory Wade was a true American patriot. A decorated airman, his service is truly inspirational. This dedication will ensure his service and sacrifice for our nation will never be forgotten. I am honored to play a part in remembering his heroic life through this legislation”.

Kory Wade was a native of Manchester and was in the class of 2008 from Red Jacket High School. Shortly after graduating, he joined the Air Force. In 2023, he died in a training exercise.

The NYSDOT will install, update, and maintain signage along the route. A formal dedication ceremony will be announced at a later date.
