Ontario County wants a plan in place before any migrants or asylum seekers are bused to the county.
This week, the county’s Board of Supervisors Government Operations and the Ways and Means Committees passed a resolution expressing concern over a lack of a plan for relocating asylum seekers from New York City to Ontario County. Officials say the current housing shortage, including a lack of housing for the homeless, is the key reason Ontario County needs a plan in place from the state for supporting asylum seekers.
The full board of supervisors will continue the discussion when they meet on June 1st.
