Newark Woman Killed in Route 31 Accident

A two-car accident in Wayne County Thursday afternoon claimed the life of a Newark woman.

An investigation determined 89-year-old Barbara Farnsworth failed to slow down for a stop sign on Route 31 in Palmyra which resulted in a collision with another vehicle. Farnsworth was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Port Gibson Fire Department and Port Gibson EMS, Finger Lakes Ambulance, New York State Police and New York State DEC
