Property owners in one Finger Lakes county now have a new tool to protect against fraud.

A free alert service will notify Seneca County homeowners whenever a property-related document, like a deed or mortgage, is recorded in their name. Alerts are sent by email, and documents can be reviewed online or at the County Clerk’s Office.

To sign up, visit the Fraud Alert Service page on the Seneca County Clerk’s website. Assistance with registration is also available through the Clerk’s Office.

Similar programs were launched last year in Yates and Schuyler counties.
