Seneca Lake Guardian, a Watkins Glen-based environmental advocacy group, is starting a year-long air-monitoring and community education program aimed at the Seneca Meadows landfill.
The group is installing four monitors around the landfill to monitor the air for harmful emissions over the next year.
Their program will be explained during a public meeting tonight at the Seneca Falls Community Center. The meeting begins at 6.
The landfill has applied for a state permit to expand upward by 47 acres in a valley infill area within their property. If approved by the state Department of Environmental Conservation, the expansion would allow the landfill to remain open until 2040.
