Macedon’s police chief is facing charges after crashing his patrol vehicle in the town Monday morning.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports Chief Fabian Rivera was involved in a property damage motor vehicle collision on Waterford Road around 8:15. While there were no injuries, the patrol car had to be towed from the scene due to front-end damage.

During a police investigation, officers suspected Rivera was intoxicated and requested assistance from the sheriff’s office. Deputies charged the chief with DWI, Aggravated DWI, and operating a Motor Vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.08% or higher. Police charged him with DWI as well.

Rivera was issued appearance tickets for Macedon Town Court and Walworth Town Court to appear at a later date.

It was almost one year ago when Rivera went on voluntary unpaid leave following an incident on December 10th at a Macedon restaurant. Rivera was said to be in a highly intoxicated state and fell over several times, resulting in a cut to his face. At the time, Rivera said he was suffering from PTSD. Rivera returned to the job in February.
