A new budget extender-signed yesterday by Governor Kathy Hochul- will be in effect until Friday. It’s the 5th extender passed by the state legislature.

The state budget is now four weeks late.

The delay in passing a budget is starting to take its toll.  54th District State Senator Pam Helming, speaking Monday during floor debate, voiced concern over holdups in funding to nonprofit agencies that depend on state support, including child-care centers.

Helming says previous grants that the providers considered to be a “lifeline” have been exhausted and the new ones have not been made available.
