The City of Geneva Police Department would like to make a reminder that car larcenies tend to increase during this time of year. Geneva Police Officers are diligently patrolling neighborhoods to deter this type of crime but are seeking help from the community. To help discourage theft from a vehicle, the local law enforcement agency is offering these tips:

  • Park in a well-lighted area, thieves tend to use the color of darkness to conduct nefarious activities.
  • Lock your vehicles and keep your vehicle’s windows closed when you leave your vehicle for any period. Studies show that 99% of all car larcenies could be avoided if the vehicle is locked and the windows up fully closed.
  • Keep all valuable items out of plain view.
  • If you see suspicious activity, contact the Geneva Police Department or your local law enforcement agency immediately.

Anyone with information regarding the recent car larcenies is urged to contact the Geneva Police Department at 315-781-1200 or dial 9-1-1.
